Bill Cox is a lifelong resident of McKinney and a dedicated community leader who has spent his life working to enhance the quality of life for all who call the city home. A graduate of McKinney High School and the University of Texas at Austin, Bill has deep roots in the community and an unwavering commitment to its success. He lives in McKinney with his wife of 29 years, and they have two grown children. Together, they are members of First United Methodist Church of McKinney, reflecting their strong faith and dedication to the community. Throughout his career, Bill has prioritized civic engagement and collaborative leadership to ensure McKinney continues to thrive as a vibrant and welcoming city. He is also a Principal in the McKinney-based Carey Cox Company, a commercial real estate firm specializing in Collin County.
Bill has served in numerous leadership roles that demonstrate his passion for the city’s growth and well-being. As Past Chairman and a current member of the Collin College Foundation Board of Directors, he was instrumental in the success of a $600 million bond program, which expanded educational opportunities for Collin County residents. He also co-chaired the City of McKinney Bond Election, helping secure critical funding to improve infrastructure and amenities. His service as Chairman of the City of McKinney Planning and Zoning Commission reflects his commitment to smart and sustainable development. As a former City Council Member At Large and Mayor Pro-Tem, Bill worked tirelessly to enhance city services and strengthen the community.

Bill's leadership extends beyond city government. He is a past President of the McKinney Rotary Club, where he remains active as a Paul Harris Fellow, exemplifying a lifelong dedication to service. His involvement in the McKinney Chamber of Commerce as Past Chairman of the Board of Directors highlights his focus on fostering economic growth and opportunity for businesses and families alike. Additionally, Bill has served on the Board of Directors for the Collin County Association of Realtors, reflecting his professional expertise and commitment to ethical standards in the industry.
Bill’s contributions to McKinney and Collin County have earned him numerous honors, including being named McKinney Chamber of Commerce Carey Cox Citizen of the Year, an award that carries special significance as it is named after his father. He is also a recipient of the Collin County Area Realtors Distinguished Service Award and Realtor of the Year, as well as the prestigious Stemmons Service Award, which recognizes excellence and leadership in the commercial real estate industry.
As a third-generation McKinney resident, Bill understands the importance of honoring the city's heritage while planning for its future.
